This week, I’ve had several new students interested in painting. One was a real little guy who loves drawing boats but doesn’t have much experience with paint or color. For his lesson, I showed him some turbulent Turner paintings, taught him about the horizon and gave him a giant piece of paper to fill with brushstrokes. With such a large paper he could put his whole body into those stokes, re-enacting wind and waves and storm clouds. It was fun to see such a little body in front of such a big paper! I imagine he felt like quite an artiste, as well. I only wish the lesson had been a teeny bit longer. I didn’t have time to snap a photo of the final product.
